Guido Pannain ,during an evening of December 1966 delivered to the public a presentation speech of the Foundation Curci ,constituted a month before according to the promoter's wishes.
In his inaugural address ,Pannain , the famous musicologist , he referred to the ancient roots of the Neapolitan music tradition , going back to the creation of those Neapolitan Conservatoires that already during the 16 th century gave support to the young men to initiate to the music ; those Conservatoire where the Neapolitan School grew ,which during the 18th century gave many incentives , models and acquisitions to the European music.
Pannain -wrote Alfredo Parente , reporter of that evening - connected to that faraway storical origins the case of Alberto Curci, in which patronage and philanthropy got along well with a great sensibility and the cult of music
To be in service of the music was the aim of the Institution , the founder indicated the ways to follow " To reward and to stimulate the artistic and musical activity in a lasting way ",thus being useful to the music giving concrete means to cultivate it ,by " Awarding with money those who have distinguished themselves by the performance of a piece or a musical piede , with a musical instrument chosen by themselves, or even an historical-literary study having the music as subject , according to the contests laws published by the Board of Directors " . Moreover " To award scholarships to the students of the Italian Public Music Academies " and " the organisation of artistical and cultural manifestations , and the music didactics activity since the primary school to initiate them into study of the strings ".
